Kurokamo Onsen

Kurogamo Onsen is a small inn in the Kurogamo district of Shirataka, Yamagata. The bath is compact, room for two or three people, and runs fairly hot. The water is the reason people come: very slippery and smooth, clinging to the skin, and visitors say the skin stays soft afterwards. Day visitors are taken in, and soap and shampoo are on hand. The shower can be weak or run only scalding hot, so some mix in cold water with a basin, sento style. The inn is run by an elderly proprietress on her own, so expect a simple, lived-in place rather than a polished one. Visitors also mention fishing in the river right in front.
