Fukabe is a small minshuku a few minutes' walk from the beach at Usami onsen, known locally for the colorful natural stones set into the floor of its outdoor bath. The rotenburo is split by gender, paired with a marble indoor bath for men and a hinoki (cypress) one for women. The water runs mild and on the cool side, so it's easy to linger. It's a plain, family-run inn with a dining hall and breakfast included, more suited to a simple stay than a resort visit, and the Japanese-style rooms look out toward the coast.
