Town-run mountain inn with an indoor acidic-spring bath

YesApril to October the bath runs until 18:00 (last entry 17:30); November to March until 16:30 (last entry 16:00). Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Closed for part of the winter (in fiscal 2024: 17 December to 6 February).
Children 220 yen. 100 yen off with a coupon from the Gassan hut, a Montbell or JAF membership, or a Machi Navi card. Bath towel rental is 200 yen.

About
A small inn run by Shonai town at the foot of Gassan. The baths are indoors only, with no open-air bath and no sauna, and the spring is an acidic one that the inn notes is among just three of its kind in Yamagata. Day-use bathing (higaeri nyuyoku, 日帰り入浴) is open most days, and bath towels can be rented. Overnight stays are limited to Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and the eve of public holidays, and the inn closes for part of the winter.
