Higashine Onsen Otayu

Otayu is a small day-use bathhouse at Sakuranbo Higashine Onsen, with a single indoor bathing hall and a row of showers, no open-air bath. The water has a faint sulfur scent and a slight yellow-green tint, smooth and moisturizing on the skin. A separate, reservation-only tent sauna sits outside: wood-fired, with a small one-person cold plunge and open-air rest looking over the surrounding rice fields, booked and paid for apart from the regular bath. The previous owner worked in construction, and it shows in the wood-heavy interior. The lobby is a rest area with a TV and massage chairs, and the cafe sells coffee and homemade amazake. Weekends bring a mix of local families and younger visitors.
