Kokuya Ryokan sits partway up Ikaho's stone steps and draws the onsen town's well-known golden spring water straight to its baths. The shared indoor and outdoor baths carry the amber, iron-tinted water, and several room types have their own tub filled with the same source, each a different shape: square wood-and-stone, oval ceramic, round ceramic, or octagonal wood-and-stone. A private rooftop bath can be reserved by the hour for overnight guests. From the outdoor bath there's a view toward Mount Tanigawa and the Mikuni range.
