Umemaru is a ryokan on Awaji Island above the Naruto Strait, with a separate large bath for men and one for women, each opening onto an outdoor bath facing the strait and the Onaruto Bridge. A jet bath and a foot-bath corner sit alongside the main baths, and two private baths, Sora and Kaze, can be booked by the hour. Some rooms have their own open-air bath. The spring water is rich in sodium and bicarbonate and feels smooth and silky rather than sharp, the kind locally called bijin no yu (美人の湯), a beauty bath. The inn is also known for seafood-centered dinners built around Awaji-caught tai.
