About

Hotel Kinomezaka sits in Muikamachi Onsen, with the spring source out among the rice paddies in front of it. The big indoor bath is kept pleasantly lukewarm, the kind of nuruyu you can stay in for a long time. Upstairs is a rooftop open-air bath called Omatsu-no-yu (お松の湯), and in summer the view is green rice fields and the Echigo Sanzan mountains. There are also a sauna and a cold plunge, and separate baths for men and women, no mixed bathing. Day-use bathing (higaeri nyuyoku, 日帰り入浴) is available, though it can be refused when the hotel is full of overnight guests.
