Hotel Sakurai

A large hotel-style ryokan in Kusatsu onsen, with two separate indoor baths, one for men (Shirane, 白根) and one for women (Azuma, 吾妻), plus an open-air bath. There's no sauna and no private or family bath, though a separate paid bathing area is available for guests wanting a quieter soak. The water carries Kusatsu's familiar sulfur scent, and reviewers say it leaves skin noticeably smooth. A few rooms on the top floor of the main building have their own open-air tub, though it runs on heated water rather than the spring itself. The hotel runs a buffet restaurant and is popular with families, with baby bathing gear at the baths and a small pool open in summer. Day bathing isn't offered here; it's for overnight guests only.
