YesDay-use bathing is weekends and public holidays only, 11:00 to 15:00. It's sometimes closed for cleaning without notice, so it's worth calling ahead.
¥500 per person. No rest-room fee is included, so long rests aren't really the idea.

About
Karamatsuso is a small onsen minshuku (温泉民宿) in Norikura Kogen (乗鞍高原). The water is natural kakenagashi, milky white and sulfurous. There's one indoor bath, built entirely in hinoki, with Mt Norikura filling the window, and one outdoor bath the owner built by hand, stacking local Norikura rock and leaving off the roof on purpose so bathers can soak under the stars. Both baths are split by gender, with no private option. The inn is plain and old-fashioned, the kind of place that's simple by design but kept spotless. A courtyard planted with lavender and herbs looks out at the mountain, and a small room holds a collection of over 2,000 manga for a quiet evening in.
