Sumihei is a small ryokan in Taiza, a fishing village on the Sea of Japan coast of Kyoto Prefecture, open since 1868. Rather than one communal bathhouse, it has six named open-air baths that guests book privately: some face the sea, others sit below the forest behind the inn. Every guest room has an ocean view. Yukata are kept in children's sizes, so families are welcome.
