A ryokan on Yuhigaura beach in Kyotango, with a large indoor bath and a private, reservable open-air rock bath, plus guest rooms that come with their own onsen bath, several looking straight out over the sea. The spring water carries a faint whiff of sulfur and is known locally as bijin-yu (美人湯), the skin-smoothing spring. The bay is named for its sunset (Yuhigaura, 夕日ヶ浦, sunset bay), and the sea-facing rooms and their baths look straight out at it. Dinner is built around seafood from the Tango coast, crab in season.
