Imagine Hotel & Resort Hakodate sits on the beach in Yunokawa onsen, a short ride from Hakodate airport. The rooftop open-air bath, Usukeshi-no-yu (うすけしの湯), looks straight out over the Tsugaru Strait, with the sound of the waves and, on clear days, a view toward the Shimokita peninsula. The ground-floor indoor bath, Nagomi-no-yu (なごみの湯), has a proper loyly sauna with a Finnish Harvia heater and a cold plunge, and there is an outdoor foot bath tucked behind the lobby. The hotel draws its own water from three wells, a colorless chloride spring that tastes faintly salty and leaves the skin smooth, kept flowing fresh through every tub.
