This foot bath sits inside the grounds of the Hakone Open-Air Museum, filled with clear, colorless spring water piped from the museum's own onsen source. Beside it is a smaller hand bath, tegu (手湯), plus seating built for wheelchair users. The trough runs about 28 meters and is lined with fifteen kinds of stone brought in from Japan and abroad, each with its own color and texture, a nod to the sculpture park just outside. The space was redone in July 2024 by two Tokyo design studios, opening onto the forested hills of Hakone with birdsong and a nearby stream audible while you soak your feet. It's a stop inside the museum grounds rather than its own destination, a quiet, kid-friendly break between galleries.
