About
Hokumon Yashiki is a ryokan built on the site of Hagi Castle's old third bailey, in the town's historic castle quarter, a few minutes' walk from its preserved streets. The onsen has two bathing areas, Hanameguri-no-yu and Shirakabe-no-yu, each with an indoor bath, open-air baths and a sauna; the men's and women's sides swap between morning and evening, so an overnight stay means a chance to try both. Inside, the building keeps a Japanese garden and older furnishings and artwork on display, giving it a quieter, more formal feel than a typical hot-spring inn.
