Shohakukan is a ryokan in Iwaki Yumoto Onsen with separate men's and women's indoor baths. There is no rotenburo and no private bath. The big bath looks out over the town of Iwaki and the ridgelines of the nearby mountains; from the men's bath, the early morning sun lights those ridgelines red. The water carries a faint smell of sulfur and is soft enough that babies can bathe in it. Several guest room types have their own onsen bath. Day use (higaeri nyuyoku, 日帰り入浴) is possible by phone reservation, with overnight guests given priority.
