Yoshimoto

Kappo Ryokan Yoshimoto (割烹旅館 吉本) is a small inn in Sagae, Yamagata, with 14 rooms and a kitchen that matters as much as the bath. The large baths are separate for men and women, filled with Sagae onsen water that the inn says runs as kakenagashi (源泉かけ流し), the kind known locally for being gentle on the skin. Now and then the women's bath is floated with roses. Day trips come as a course: a bath plus a seasonal kaiseki (会席) meal, booked by phone.
