Yamadorinomori is a small, family-run auto-campground in the hills of Minamioguni, Kumamoto. It has its own hot spring on the property, Yamadori-no-yu (山鳥の湯), with separate indoor and outdoor baths for men and women. There's also a reservable Finnish-style tent sauna for up to four people, with the river, a cold shower, or a cold-plunge tub to cool off between rounds (and snow, if there's any on the ground in winter). The campground has been run by the same family since 2000, and came back from flood damage in 2020 to reopen. It sits in the forest next to a river, which keeps things noticeably cooler in summer.
