Takefue sits in a bamboo grove in the Minamioguni area of Kumamoto, drawing water from its own spring in kakenagashi (源泉掛け流し) style. Every one of the 12 rooms has a private indoor bath, and the detached cottage rooms come with their own outdoor baths as well. Beyond the room baths, there are three reservable private outdoor baths, including the Dokutsu Rotenburo (洞窟露天風呂), a cave open-air bath. Kaiseki meals are served in-room, so the whole stay feels contained and unhurried. Day use is not available.
