About

Hanare no Yado Hanagokoro is a cottage ryokan at Oda Onsen (小田温泉), ten detached, log-cabin-style units spread across a wooded hillside between Aso and Oita. Every room has its own indoor bath fed straight from the source and kept flowing, kakenagashi (掛け流し), and three of the room types add a private outdoor tub as well. The water is a cloudy, milky onsen that changes color from day to day and is known locally as good for the skin. There's also a separate bathhouse split by gender, for guests who'd rather soak away from their room. The inn is pet-friendly: dogs are welcome in your room (not in the bath), and there's a dog run on site. The drive in follows a narrow mountain road through forest, so the place already feels remote by the time you arrive, and on clear days you can see toward the Kuju peaks, with a full sky of stars after dark.
