422. Yamashinobu, Oda Onsen, Kumamoto ★★ I visited the day-use bath for 500 yen, located about a 30-minute walk from the center of Kurokawa. The day-use hours are from 11:00 to 14:00. The outdoor bath for day-use is not always available, so it's better to check before going. They stamp the 88 Onsen of Kyushu passport. It is not included in the Kurokawa tegata (hand stamp pass), although it is actively advertised at the ryokan itself. In January, there was a matryoshka doll at the reception. When I asked about it, they said it was a gift. 1. Outdoor stone bath. View of trees, very natural atmosphere, although partly enclosed by a fence. The water is clear, temperature around 43-45°C (the closer to the source, the hotter). I managed to catch the yukemoribi (hot spring fire). 2. Indoor bath, water clear, temperature about 43°C.
