A sodium chloride spring that surfaces under its own pressure at 97.4 °C — among Japan's hottest natural sources, and far too hot to enter before cooling. Salt gives the water its heat-retaining character, while an alkaline pH of 8.7 leaves the soft, slippery touch of Japan's beauty-water family. Moderately mineralized at 1,237 mg/kg of dissolved solids, it carries a generous 156 mg/kg of metasilicic acid — the silica film that makes skin feel noticeably smoother afterwards.
