Biwanso has been Wakura Onsen's oldest ryokan since it opened in 1804, and the poets Yosano Tekkan and Akiko once stayed here. Beyond the lobby, the view of Nanao Bay is what gave the inn its name. The bathing water is salty: the men's indoor bath is lined in cypress, and the women's is set with inlaid mother-of-pearl. The open-air bath at the water's edge is currently women's only, since the men's side was removed for ongoing seawall construction after the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake. Some guest rooms have their own onsen bath, and overnight guests can also book a small private bath. Day-use bathing is available, and the spring water is mild enough to sip in small amounts.
