Shofuro Matsuya (松楓楼松屋) has been welcoming guests in the Fukuwatari (福渡) area of Shiobara Onsen for over 140 years. The main baths, a large indoor hall and an open-air rotenburo, are split into separate men's and women's sections and look out over the Houki River. The water is clear and gentle on the skin. Rooms in the annex Rokka (六花) each come with their own private outdoor bath on the balcony, and many rooms in the main building do as well, with 13 private outdoor baths across the property in all.
