A small ryokan out among scattered farmhouses and fields in Shirakawa, open to overnight guests and to day-use bathers (higaeri nyuyoku, 日帰り入浴). The water is amber and noticeably slippery, the kind visitors compare to lotion on the skin. The men's side is reported to have an indoor bath, an open-air bath, a striking-water bath (utaseyu, 打たせ湯) and a sauna, while the women's side is said to be smaller and darker. The open-air bath runs fairly hot and the footing is slick. The setting is quiet and rural, with a tended garden and not much else around.
