Masagoya

A small family-run inn in Yunohama onsen (湯野浜温泉), in Tsuruoka. The baths are separated by gender and filled with natural hot spring water that reviewers describe as mild and easy to settle into. There is a foot bath (ashiyu, 足湯) under the eaves to the left of the entrance, and shampoo and body soap are provided at the baths. Dinners lean on crab and local Shonai ingredients, and the sea is a short walk away. It is a minshuku-style place with about nine guest rooms, so expect a homely, quiet stay rather than anything grand.
