A small ryokan in Akakura onsen that takes only three groups a night, and the baths are the reason to come. There are six: two indoor and four open-air, and every one can be used privately, so there is no waiting and you can slip in whenever you like. The baths run at different temperatures, so you can pick the one that suits you, and the big indoor bath is a treat when you have it to yourself. The inn is built on a slope above the river, with steps and level changes inside and a short climb up from the parking lot. From the entrance you can look back over the onsen town. Dinner is served in a private dining room rather than in the guest room, and guests can choose between a regular meal and an irori (囲炉裏, sunken hearth) course. There are no vending machines or shop, so bring drinks with you.
