Bobata Onsen Yahataya is a large ryokan whose indoor and open-air baths are cut into huge stone brought from Fujian, China: the men's rotenburo is a single block about 8 meters long, the women's a set of three smaller stones. The indoor bath sits under a high, open atrium ceiling. The alkaline spring water is known locally as bijin-no-yu (美人の湯), or beauty water, for how smooth it leaves the skin. A separate annex has panorama open-air baths on its upper floors looking over the surrounding hills and forest, with the men's and women's floors swapping monthly, plus four private kashikiri baths with framed window views. The sauna area has both a hot sauna and low, lying-down rooms on heated bakuhanseki stone and in radon-infused steam.
