Izutsuya has separate men's and women's baths, Izanagi-no-yu (いざなぎの湯) and Izanami-no-yu (いざなみの湯), each with an indoor bath and an open-air one. The spring here is a rare radioactive type, and visitors say the baths are roomy with hardly any chlorine smell. A tile picture of the poet Izumi Shikibu (和泉式部) decorates the bathroom. Day-use bathing (higaeri nyuyoku, 日帰り入浴) is open to non-guests. The inn sits in the hills of Nekonaki (猫啼), a name tied to a legend of Izumi Shikibu curing her cat here. The main building is a large modern one, while the annex is an old wooden building with a Showa-era feel. Dinner is often served in the room. There is free parking.
