An ultra-acidic calcium sulfate spring (pH 2.4) rising at 90.7 °C, among Japan's hottest natural sources. The water carries a faintly milky white, lightly cloudy appearance at the wellhead with a strong sour and metallic tang, sharp enough to sting on contact. Metasilicic acid at 396 mg/kg adds a noticeable silica film, typical of the Myoban onsen field famous for its skin-conditioning waters.

About

A home-style ryokan with an onsen and a sulfur smell in the air. Located in the sulfur-scented Myoban area, this is a traditional home-style ryokan with an onsen. There are two baths, each with a different spring composition. One of them has gray water with strong acidity, pH 1.8, which is quite unique. Soap does not lather here. The sediment that settles at the bottom of the bath is also characteristic. You can use the bath privately, calmly and at your leisure!

485. Yumotoya Ryokan, Beppu We visited various private baths on different days for day trips. The price was 500 yen per person. Day trip hours are from 10:00 to 14:00. They stamp the Beppu Onsen passport. 1. Private indoor stone bath. Breathing inside is comfortable. - In April, the water was clear, slightly cloudy with a gray tint, temperature 48°C; - In January, the water was cloudy gray, temperature 46°C. 2. Private indoor rectangular bath. The water was cloudy white-gray with a proper stale onsen smell. Temperature 44°C. Breathing inside is comfortable. 05.04.2025 04.01.2026 31.03.2026
