Jyoseikan (城西館, Jyoseikan), founded in 1874, is one of the older ryokan in Kochi city and served for generations as accommodation for imperial family guests. The baths sit on the top floor: a separate open-air rotenburo and large indoor bath for men and women, both with views of Kochi Castle and the Shikoku mountains. The men's bath is called Igosso-no-yu (いごっそうの湯) and the women's Hachikini-no-yu (はちきんの湯); each section has a sauna. The post-bath lounge, Shiromiguya (城見櫓), overlooks the floodlit castle at night.
