The indoor bath at Onga no Akayu (おんがの赤湯) is the draw: the water runs a deep reddish-brown from iron, dark enough that you can't see the bottom. The outdoor bath has the iron filtered out, so it comes up clear and runs a little cooler, a useful change after the hot indoor soak. There's also a mist sauna, though it isn't always running. The place is small and family-run, with rice fields out front. It's part of the Kyushu Onsen-do (九州温泉道) 88-bath stamp circuit, and it came close to closing in 2023 before the owner's son stepped in to keep it going.
