Lodge Tateyama Renpo

Sitting high in the Tateyama Murodo (立山室堂) alpine zone in Toyama, this lodge's bathhouse is nicknamed Gokuraku-no-yu (極楽の湯), meaning something like "bath of bliss." The outdoor bath has a milky, sulfurous quality and looks out over the Dainichi peaks, while the indoor bath runs clear and feels notably soft on the skin. Both flow fresh without recirculation. Open only during the alpine route season, roughly midsummer through mid-autumn.
