Pet-friendly mountain ryokan with a glass-walled valley bath
Heated tap water, not a natural hot spring
The bath is heated tap water, not hot spring water.
Enclosed indoor bathing area

A small ryokan of seven rooms in the mountains of Tenei village, set up for guests travelling with dogs. Several rooms accept pets, including one with an irori hearth, and dogs eat dinner in a separate tatami hall. The main bath has a wall of glass facing the valley, so you can watch the stream below, the evening light or the stars from the tub. The water is heated plain water, not onsen water. Part of the tub has since been turned into a rest area for sitting after the bath. Autumn brings stink bugs to the building, as in many mountain inns.
