Oyado Morinone

Oyado Morinone (おやど 森の音) is a small, upscale ryokan at Kaminoyama Onsen in Yamagata. There are two large communal baths: "Yo" (陽), with light filtering through the windows, and "Tsuki" (月), which has an open-air section looking out over the forest and night sky. The two baths rotate between men's and women's use throughout the day. The water here is smooth on the skin, something the inn itself describes as feeling like toner. All rooms are tatami-floored Japanese style. A fireplace lounge on the ground floor and a reading room upstairs round out the stay. No day-use bathing is available.
