Yamaguchiya Bekkan

Yamaguchiya Bekkan is an old-style ryokan in Tawarayama, a hot spring town where bathing is usually done at shared public baths scattered around the village. This inn keeps its own alkaline onsen water indoors, in two baths that are reserved for one party at a time rather than shared. Guests describe the water as smooth and silky on the skin. An annex built from a former Edo-era house takes guests traveling with pets, and both meals are served in the room. The building has an old, well-worn character that fans of quieter, unpolished ryokan seem to appreciate.
