Yanaka no Yu

Yanaka no Yu (谷中ノ湯) is a small private bath in the Omotego area of Shirakawa. You phone ahead and the bath is filled for your visit, so it takes a little while to be ready. It is plain and well worn, not a polished facility, and the water is unlike what most people have bathed in before. Some visitors say it smells of chlorine on certain days. It suits people who like a rustic, off-the-path bath more than amenities.
