Uses natural hot spring water
Open-air outdoor bath
Outdoor bath called 'Ranpu no Yu', rebuilt by the owner in June 2024 (took ~2 years to build). Because the source water temperature is low, hot water is circulated around the pipes to keep the bath warm without diluting the spring water, per the same review.
Enclosed indoor bathing area
Private bath available for day-use visitors or hotel guests to reserve
The bath (2 indoor tubs + the rotenburo) can be reserved for exclusive/private use by guests.
On-site or nearby parking available
On-site covered garage/parking, primarily set up for motorcycles (the pension caters mainly to riders); a separate review notes the last stretch of road is partly unpaved, so cars with extremely low ground clearance may have trouble entering.
Pension Alice has two indoor baths and an outdoor bath, Ranpu no Yu (らんぷの湯), that the owner built by hand over about two years, finishing it in June 2024. The baths can be used privately, one party at a time. The pension sits back from the prefectural road in a stand of larch trees, and it really is quiet there. It's run with a homemade, do-it-yourself spirit and has long been a favorite with touring motorcyclists: there's a lounge next to the dining room stocked with manga and motorcycle magazines, and a covered garage where bikes stay dry overnight.
