YesListings disagree on when day-use bathing starts, giving 9:00, 10:00, or 15:00 in different places, and one notes the schedule can shift depending on how full the inn is with overnight guests, so it's worth calling ahead. Closing days are irregular, futeikyu (不定休), rather than a fixed weekly day.
Day-use bathing is 500 yen for adults and 300 yen for children.

Norikura Hotel Yamayuri is an unassuming inn in Norikura Kogen, with an indoor bath and an outdoor rotenburo (露天風呂), both filled with the area's milky white, sulfur-scented water. The building is older but kept clean, rooms are simple, and the windows look out over birch forest and the surrounding mountains. There's a restaurant on site, and meals need to be booked ahead.
