FURUTAKIYA HOT SPRING HOTEL

Furutakiya runs four separate bathing spaces in Iwaki Yumoto, all fed by a sulfur spring kept flowing straight from the source rather than diluted with tap water. The two indoor baths, Daikoku-no-yu (大黒の湯) and Sennen-no-yu (千年の湯), each split into a hotter and a cooler tub and swap between men and women through the day. A short stair leads to the semi-open-air Fuku-no-yu (福の湯), which looks out over the town, while a rooftop open-air bath on the top floor is reserved for overnight guests only. A private bath added in 2025, Kamekichi-no-yu (亀吉の湯), is fitted out like an old neighborhood sento with a large mural and is booked for a session rather than shared. A few suites also have their own semi-open-air onsen bath in the room. The water is soft on the skin and leaves you warm long after you get out. Founded in 1695, the ryokan sits at the heart of Iwaki Yumoto's old hot spring quarter and marked its 330th anniversary in 2025. The restaurant is open to day visitors too, and there is a kids' corner with toys and free parking.
