Takasuso is a kokuminshukusha, a public-run lodge, on Fukui's Echizen coast, with rooms looking out over the Sea of Japan. The main bathhouse has an indoor tub and a roofed open-air tub, both fed by natural hot spring water that is kept flowing rather than treated. The outdoor tub is kept noticeably cooler than the indoor ones and is meant for a long, easy soak, and the spring water here is unusual for being drinkable. Separate VILLA cottages add their own private jacuzzi and sauna for the guests staying in them.
