Ohashikan

Ohashikan is a ryokan in Matsue at the foot of the Matsue Ohashi bridge, near Lake Shinji. The indoor onsen bath, on the basement floor, keeps a nostalgic Showa-era bathhouse feel, and the water is known locally for leaving skin smooth. There's no rotenburo, sauna or private reservable bath, just one shared bath each for men and women (which side each uses can swap by day), open in the morning and evening. Only the panoramic-view twin rooms have their own onsen tub, looking out over the sunset on Lake Shinji. The ryokan is linked to the place where the writer Koizumi Yakumo (小泉八雲), better known abroad as Lafcadio Hearn, first stayed during his time in Matsue, and Ohashikan still carries on that connection today.
