Onyado Nono Matsue

Onyado Nono Matsue keeps its baths on the 11th floor: separate baths for men and women, each with an indoor tub and an open-air one looking out toward Lake Shinji and the city, plus two small jar-shaped tubs (tsubo-buro, 壺風呂). The water comes from the hotel's own Matsue Horikawa (松江堀川) hot-spring source and feels light and smooth on the skin rather than sticky. The sauna runs hot and lets you pour your own water over the stones, the chiller-cooled cold bath has a rain shower above it on both sides, and the men's side adds overhead cold water in the utaseyu (打たせ湯) style. Bathing is for hotel guests only; there is no day-use visit. Part of the Dormy Inn group's Onyado Nono line, the hotel leans toward the feel of a ryokan inside, with tatami floors through the public areas and shoes left at the entrance.
