About
The hotel's communal bath, on the third floor of the annex, uses colorless, clear water that rises from deep beneath the shore of Lake Shinji. The source is called Matsue Shinjiko Onsen (松江しんじ湖温泉), known locally as bihada no yu (美肌の湯), 'beauty-skin water.' The men's side faces the lake, the women's side looks onto greenery, each with a single tub, no sauna and no outdoor bath. A few room categories, including the Koyu suite (湖夕), have their own indoor onsen tub; Koyu's is finished in natural stone and hinoki, usable any time during the stay. Day-use bathing is open to non-guests, and there's a rest area serving natural alkaline mineral water from western Shimane. The hotel itself sits in a quiet spot on the Lake Shinji shore, in central Matsue.
