About

Nango Onsen Dontaro no Yu (南郷温泉どんタロの湯) sits in a quiet mountain pocket of Misato town in Miyazaki, well off the beaten path. The water is famously soft and silky on the skin, a quality visitors notice in both the indoor bath and the rotenburo (open-air bath) that looks out over forested hills. Sauna and cold bath are available on both sides, and a private bath can be reserved by the hour. An on-site restaurant and a free rest hall round out the stop. The facility changed hands and names in recent years, moving from Yamagiri (山霧, Yamagiri) to its current name, and is part of the Kyushu Onsen-do (九州温泉道, Kyushu Onsen-do) stamp-rally program.
