Goroko no Yu Sakai-ten

Goroko no Yu Sakai-ten is a big day-use bathhouse built into a roadside shopping complex in Sakai, Ibaraki. Its own bath guide lists close to twenty different bath and sauna varieties split between an indoor hall and an open-air side: a jet bath, a carbonated bath, a medicinal bath, single-person kettle tubs, a standing-shower massage bath called utaseyu (打たせ湯), a steam bath, and saunas running at both high and low heat plus a salt sauna. There's a separate cold bath too, and a large spring-fed foot bath corner in the lounge area. The spring water itself runs salty and faintly brown-tinted. Women can also use a ganbanyoku (岩盤浴) room for a rock-bed sweat. The building is built for people who stick around: reclining-chair lounges, a men's and women's sleeping room, a manga corner, and a restaurant sit near the baths, and a stage theater runs regular taishu engeki (大衆演劇) shows. A hotel wing above the bathhouse has simple guest rooms, some with futon bedding, for an overnight stay, and a private family bath, filled with heated tap water rather than the spring, can be booked by the hour.
