岩鼻温泉 ステンレス流し台の湯いわはなおんせん すてんれすながしだいのゆ
Always open. There is no gate, no attendant and nothing to close.
Uses natural hot spring water
Probably the best known wild bath (noyu, 野湯) in Wakayama, and one of the strangest. On a bend of the prefectural road up to Nachi Falls, a stainless kitchen sink sits in a gap in the guardrail with spring water running into it straight from a pipe. It is a simple sulfur spring at around 36 degrees, clearly eggy, soft and slippery on the skin, and the rock and concrete around the outflow are stained green and white with mineral deposits. There is no changing room, no screen of any kind, and traffic passes a couple of metres away.
