895. Yuwai no Yado Nakaya, Beppu Stayed overnight. There is no ordinary higaeri. Apparently the hotel’s best days are already behind it, and it feels like it is in a kind of dying state. I had breakfast, and that part was fine, a simple Japanese breakfast. It is not included in Onsendo Beppu, and they do not stamp the 88 onsen stamp rally booklet. Most of the staff are foreign, but it is hard for them to work with English-speaking guests, and the service is very weak. The baths are listed as separate for men and women on the 8th floor, but only one area is operating, in the other the water has been drained and apparently has been for a long time. So I made up for it with the private baths on the 1st floor, when the public bath is for one sex, the private baths for the other become free. I went to the private bath on the day when the public bath was available, so I paid ¥1,100. At first the room looks comfortable, but in reality everything turns out badly. The room itself is a bit stuffy and has a slight, though faint, unpleasant smell, the same smell is throughout the hotel. The faucet at the sink in the room leaks, and you have to lay out the futon yourself. But the worst thing I found before checkout. There is a bathroom in the room, I did not use it, and when I looked into it before checkout, I was horrified, there was trash left there from the previous cleaning or cleanings, and it had not been taken away. About the onsen: 1. Public bath on the 8th floor. 1.1. Indoor bath. A view of the window that faces Beppu Tower. So while sitting in the bath you can look straight at the tower, and sometimes people go out onto the platform there. It looks funny and a little unreal. The water is clear, temperature 42.5. It is stuffy inside. 1.2. Open-air area on a semi-open balcony. While standing, there is a view of the city and, at an angle, Beppu Tower. Sitting in the baths, the view disappears. 1.2.1. Bath with clear water, temperature 42.5. 1.2.2. Reclining bath. Clear water, temperature 41.5. 2. Private indoor bath on the 1st floor. The water is clear, temperature 42.5 before mixing in water and 37.5 after. There are faucets for hot and cold water. It is tolerable to breathe inside, and there is a normal smell of damp wood. A fun bath with a view of Beppu Tower, but a very sad place overall, not recommended for staying. 04.04.2026 05.04.2026
