A gentle simple thermal spring, blended from the Kawaji No. 1 and No. 2 wells. It is weakly alkaline and only lightly mineralized — about 0.4 g/kg of dissolved solids — the kind of water that asks nothing of the bather. The certificate records it as almost colorless, clear, tasteless and odorless both at the source and again in the laboratory a day after sampling, so there is no smell or tang to work around during a long soak. Metasilicic acid at 49 mg/kg lends a touch of smoothness without tipping the water into the silica-rich bracket.
