Kotengu Sanroji

Kotengu Sanroji is a small ryokan at Kawatana onsen made up of just eight detached cottages set along a stone garden path. Every cottage has its own indoor bath and its own outdoor bath, so you can soak in private any time you like, and guests can also cross a covered walkway to the separate men's and women's baths at the main building next door, Ryokan Kotengu. The annex opened in 2008 as a new wing of a ryokan already eighty years old, and each cottage is laid out and furnished differently, some with the bath built right against the bedroom. Dinner is served in a private dining room, with Shimonoseki's tora-fuku blowfish as the winter specialty, and there's a small bar for a drink afterward.
