Kamikochi Hotel stands in Sawando, the last point cars can reach before a shuttle bus takes over into Kamikochi, so people driving in and out both pass through. The baths are small but there's a separate indoor bath and open-air bath for each gender, and the open-air one sits among trees. There's no sauna and no mixed bathing. Guests describe the water as soft and gentle, good for legs tired out from a day of walking. A private reserved bath with its own washing area opened in 2023, bookable at check-in for staying guests. A free footbath sits in the lobby for anyone wanting to soak sore feet.
